New York Fashion Week or Jamaica?

"I want everyone to walk away thinking, 'Wow, I went to Jamaica in New York,'" said Theophilio's Edvin Thompson, who debuted his runway debut collection at New York Fashion Week this past weekend. Thompson, a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2021, wanted to honor his Jamaican roots. A collection dubbed Air Jamaica was created after the pandemic halted tourism to the island's gorgeous beaches.

Other notable Black designers in the first row included Kerby Jean-Raymond and Brandon Blackwood, as well as stylist Law Roach. From the runway carpet to the draperies to the chairs, the room was a sea of red. Edvin's favorite color is red, which is not only a color in the Rastafarian flag but also one of his favorite colors.
